Answering an event
How to answer an event you've been invited to, with or without an account, and what you see once the date is set.
Answering dates
Open the invite link you were sent. You don't need an account. If you're signed in, events waiting for your answer are also on your Dashboard under Needs Attention: press Respond.
All the questions are on one page. For each date, answer Yes, Maybe or No. Then answer any other questions and press Submit Response. The organizer sees nothing until you submit. If a question is required, Submit takes you to it.
Times are shown in your time zone.
You can close the page and finish later. Signed in, each answer is saved as you go, so you can even finish on another device: the page says "Saved, but not sent until you submit." As a guest, unsent answers are kept in this browser. When you come back to answers you haven't sent, the page says "Your answers from last time aren't sent yet." Submit to send them, or press Discard them to start again.
Changing your answers
Open the link again to see Your answers. Press Change answers, or Change beside one question, then Save changes. You can change your answers until voting closes: when the organizer picks the date, or when the response deadline passes.
If your answers were changed in another tab or on another device after you opened the page, we ask which to keep: "Your answers changed somewhere else". Choose Use the saved answers or Keep this tab's answers.
Answering from email
If you're in a moot, the email about a new event in it has Yes, Maybe and No beside each date. Tapping one opens a page where you confirm that date's answer. Nothing is saved until you do. You can finish the rest on the respond page. See Sharing your event.
Fill dates
Signed in, Fill dates answers the dates you haven't answered yet from your availability: your usual week and the days you've marked away. It never changes an answer you already gave. A date that clashes with another event you're going to, or with a busy time in a connected calendar, is answered No. Check the filled answers before you submit, or press Undo in the message to take the fill back.
You need some availability saved first. See Setting Up Your Availability.
The first time, the page asks "Fill from your usual week?" and lists what it would answer. Tick Do this automatically to have dates filled for you on every event from now on. That turns on Smart Response in Settings › Availability, where you can switch it off again.
Guests
Without an account, you give your name, which the organizer sees with your answers. Your answers are saved in this browser only: to change them, open the link again on the same device and browser. Fill dates needs an account.
Guests don't get email updates. Open the link again to see the date once it's set.
After the date is set
Once the organizer picks the date, answers are closed. The invite link then shows the date and time in your time zone, with Add to Google Calendar and Download .ics (for Apple Calendar, Outlook and other calendar apps). If the event has an online link, there's a Join button.
- Signed in: the event page shows the time, how many are going, and Going, Maybe and Can't go. You can change your answer until the event starts.
- Guests who answered from this browser can say Going or Can't go on the invite link.
If the organizer cancels the event, the link says so.
