How Integrations Work

Integrations use webhooks, OAuth, and CalDAV connections to sync data between EventMoot and external services.

Webhooks

Webhooks push notifications to external services when events occur:

  • Poll responses received
  • Events published or finalized
  • Message board activity
  • Subscription changes

You configure which notifications each webhook receives.

OAuth Connections

OAuth connections (like Google Calendar) let EventMoot act on your behalf:

  • Add events to your calendar automatically
  • Check for scheduling conflicts
  • Sync attendance status

You can revoke access at any time from your account settings.

CalDAV Connections

CalDAV (Calendar Distributed Authoring and Versioning) is an open protocol supported by many calendar providers including Apple iCloud, Nextcloud, Fastmail, Synology, Zoho, and more.

CalDAV connections require:

  • Server URL - Provided by your calendar service or self-hosted server
  • Username - Usually your email address
  • Password - Your account password or an app-specific password

Your credentials are encrypted at rest and only used to sync your calendars.

Security

All integrations are designed with security in mind:

  • Encrypted storage - Webhook URLs, tokens, and passwords encrypted at rest
  • Minimal permissions - We only request necessary access
  • Easy revocation - Remove integrations instantly
  • Rate limiting - Prevents abuse of external APIs
