Features
Automatic Event Sync
When an event is finalized in EventMoot, it's automatically added to your connected calendars:
- Event title, description, and location
- Start and end times
- Attendee list (if supported)
Conflict Detection
EventMoot checks your connected calendars for scheduling conflicts:
- See when proposed times clash with existing events
- Visual indicators on poll time slots
- Helps you vote for times that work
Multiple Calendars
Connect multiple calendars to:
- Sync events to specific calendars (e.g., "Gaming" calendar)
- Check conflicts across all your calendars
- Separate personal and group events
Security
Your calendar credentials are protected:
- Encrypted storage: Passwords encrypted with AES-256-GCM
- Never logged: Credentials never appear in logs
- Minimal access: We only read/write events you explicitly sync
- Easy removal: Delete connections instantly from settings
Credentials are used to:
- Verify your calendar connection
- Read events for conflict detection
- Write finalized events to your calendar
We never:
- Share your credentials with third parties
- Store passwords in plain text
- Access calendars you haven't selected
Troubleshooting
"Invalid username or password"
- Double-check your credentials
- For iCloud: Use an app-specific password, not your Apple ID password
- For services with 2FA: Generate an app password
- Ensure you're using the correct username format (often your email)
"CalDAV server not found" (404)
- Verify the server URL is correct
- Check that the CalDAV service is enabled on your server
- Try the
.well-known/caldavURL for auto-discovery
"Could not connect to the server"
- Verify your internet connection
- Check if the server is accessible from outside your network
- Ensure your firewall allows the connection
- Verify SSL certificates are valid
Sync not working
- Check that you've selected calendars to sync
- Verify the calendar connection is still active
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting
- Ensure you have permission to write to the calendar
Events not appearing
- Wait a few minutes for sync to complete
- Check that the event was actually finalized (not just draft)
- Verify you selected the correct calendar for sync
- Look in the correct date range in your calendar app
