Google Calendar
Add finalized events to your Google Calendar, and let its busy times answer clashing dates for you.
Info
Overview
Calendar sync is part of Ent. Once your Google Calendar is connected:
- Finalized events you're going to are added to it. When an organizer picks the date, every session goes into your calendar if you answered Going or Maybe (organizers get their own events too). Change your answer to Can't go later and the entry is removed. Upcoming events that were already decided when you connected are added too.
- Its busy times count when you answer dates. When you use Fill dates on an event, a date that clashes with something in your calendar is answered No and marked Busy. Your calendar's events also show on your Dashboard schedule.
Connecting Google Calendar
- Go to Settings › Calendars
- Press Connect Google Calendar
- Sign in to Google and allow access
You're brought back to Settings › Calendars. The button now reads Google Calendar Connected, and your calendar is listed under Connected Calendars.
Your Connected Calendar
Each connected calendar has:
- Auto-add finalized events: on by default. Turn it off to keep your busy times without EventMoot adding events to the calendar.
- Sync Now: fetch your busy times straight away. Otherwise they refresh every 4 hours, for the next 30 days.
- Disconnect: removes the connection. Events already added stay in your calendar.
If you connect more than one calendar (say Google and an iCloud one), finalized events go to the one you connected first, and busy times come from all of them.
Plans
Calendar sync is part of Ent. On Entling, Settings › Calendars shows an Ent Feature notice with Upgrade Now instead of the connect buttons.
Already connected before your plan changed? The connection keeps syncing your busy times, so Fill dates still sees them. Finalized events are only added while you're on Ent. Once you disconnect, connecting again needs Ent.
Microsoft Outlook
Outlook calendar sync is planned. Until it's ready, use Google Calendar or a CalDAV calendar (Apple iCloud, Nextcloud, Fastmail and others).
Troubleshooting
"You didn't give EventMoot access to that calendar"
You closed the Google sign-in or pressed Cancel, so nothing was connected. Press Connect Google Calendar again and allow access.
Events aren't appearing in my calendar
- Check Auto-add finalized events is on for that calendar
- Check your answer is Going or Maybe: Can't go removes the entry
- Check you're on Ent: on Entling, finalized events aren't added
- If you have more than one calendar connected, look in the one you connected first
Busy times are out of date
Press Sync Now on the calendar in Settings › Calendars. If its status shows an error, disconnect it and connect it again.
